Can't use Google Maps anymore
It may happen, when trying to download big resolution map that the Google will ban your IP temporarily. As I wrote in my blog. Please don't abuse Google's Map Database. Be fair!
Hi, just reporting that GMS is not working under Wine on Ubuntu 9.04. It starts up OK, but fails to reproduce any maps, photos, etc.
The file is not png. It's a BitMaP file according to Irfanview.
RIOT can reduce the file size to one 10th to 20th the original size: http://luci.criosweb.ro/riot/2008/07/launched-irfanview-riot-plugin/
What a great application. It would be even better if it had a way to remove the annoying locater ("A" in a red circle with a pointer), which spoils just about every map I could think of using. Anyway to implement this?I suppose there should be a way to get rid of that.
Nice programme! :)
I chose the .png format. But when I later opened that image in IrfanView, I was told that it actually was a .bmp image with the wrong extension. Huh? Another thing: I searched for my home town Umeå but got no hit. Not until I changed Umeå to Umea. But this perhaps has nothing to do with your programme.
